[WINDOWS] Which graphics card is the best for non-3D 1080p playback?
#1
I'm experiencing some vicious stuttering issues with XBMC currently, now that I upgraded to 10.0. This issue only occurs with 1080p video in XBMC. I can play 720p fine and I can play 1080p in Media Player Classic fine. When I examine my current setup, I don't see any glaring weaknesses other than perhaps my graphics card:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Q9650 (quad-core)
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: Nvidia 8800GTS

The 8800GTS doesn't support any level of hardware acceleration AFAIK. However, the cpu load is only about 10-30% during playback of 11Mbps 1080p video. I really like XBMC and am willing to upgrade my graphics card if it will allow for stutter-free 1080p playback. I don't want to use Media Player Classic for obvious reasons.

So, any suggestions?

Oh yeah, that 8800 is simply primitive in 2010. A cheap $10 GT210 will do the job perfectly for you:

320/640MB models (G80) doesn't, 512MB (G92) does support.
