Remote Control Android - socket time out
#1
Hello,

I´m stuck:sniffle: Im not able to connect my remote application on my mobile with xbmc on my htpc. The message on the mobile application is 'Socket Timeout Make sure XBMC webserver is enabled and XBMC is running':stare:.

I just received my ASRock Vision 3D 137B:grin:. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and XBMC Dharma (for Windows)

I installed XBMC Remote for Android (V0.8.4-beta1 rev 703) on my HTC Desire HD (android 2.2).

I read all how-to guides which i could find and set the following settings:

on my WRT54GL router i added two Port Range Forward settings
1.
Application = XBMC
Start = 9777
End = 9777
Protocol = Both
IP Address = 192.168.1.10 (copied from system info in XBMC)

2.
Application = XBMC
Start = 8080
End = 8080
Protocol = Both
IP Address = 192.168.1.10 (copied from system info in XBMC)

In XBMC on my ASRock 3D Vision htpc (System->Network)
Allow control of XBMC via UPnP
Allow control of XBMC via HTTP
Port = 8080
Username = XBMC
Password = (empty)

Allow programs on this system to control XBMC
Allow programs on other systems to control XBMC

In Windows 7, I turned of the Windows Firewall

In XBMC Remote for Android
Name of instance = XBMC
Host or IP address = 192.168.1.10
HTTP API port = 8080
Username = XBMC
Password = (empty)
EventServer port = 9777

Anyone an idea?

The "I.P. or Host Name" you entered in the XBMC Android Remote Application is probably incorrect.

The I.P. you entered is the I.P. of the XBMC on your internal LAN (visible to only devices on your network). Unless you are connected to your houses Wifi, this will not work.

If you are trying to control it via 3G or your cellphones internet, then you need to connect to your external I.P. (visible to the world).

To get your external I.P. you can visit a website like http://whatismyip.com.

Hope this helps.
