I don't remember how I got here, all I remember was that I needed to change the location of the anoying crash reports on my home folder to somewhere else.
reading so much info about crashes and crunches and drivers and what not, I stumbled upon "vainfo".
After I tryed to run it, notticed it was not installed, so I did install it.
I notticed that it gave me an error;
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns -1
So I decided to fix it(I thought that will aliviate some of the crash reports)
To make this story short, I will tell you that the info from above led me to install fglrx_drv_video.so and xvba-va-driver.so.
I ran again vainfo
and it was perfect!!! no error!!!
but now every time I attempt to play any video, xbmc will crash, it will crash the entire x11(it will send me to the log in screen)
so I decided to remove those two files, and live with the endless log files, since xbmc seems to play the videos very well without them.
anyone else have this problem??
Im using Ubuntu 12.04 and xbmc 13 with a ati raedon hd5450
