I don't know what search criteria you are using, but there's plenty posts for symbolic links, moving folders and how they don't work for some, it's just another complication that isn't needed for most users and may run into issues with cache. Caches explained (wiki). Each instruction takes up computer cycles, symbolic links for media sources means calls are re-routed. Editing the library directly is possible (not the recommended method), the risk of failure means you're comfortable with your back-ups.
