Playback problems with a DVD and a backup copy if it
#1
Hi all,
I'm experiencing some problems playing a dvd I own, the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children collector edition, whenever I try to play it, it just filckers the xbmc screen for few seconds and it doesn't start, this is the pastebin of the log debug:

I therefore tried to extract it using dvdbackup (without esoteric switches, just to mirror it on the disc) and libdvdcss2, I was courious if I could overcome the inability to play the disc by making a backup copy of it (this way I could achieve even the goal of not putting into danger my precious limited copy! ^_^), but the behaviour was the same,, here is the relevant debug log:

Is there something i could tweak to be able to watch this movie on this dharma release of xbmc?
Thank you very much for the help.

When I have a problem DVD I usually rip it with vobcopy then run it through Handbrake to see if it can read it. Can you play the disk or your rip with other software?
Mythbuntu doesn't need viruses - we have Sudo

I'll try that and I'll even try something like:
Code:
dd if=/dev/sr0 of=Videos/final_fantasy_vii.iso bs=2048 conv=sync,notrunc,noerror

What makes me wonder is that xbmc can perfectly play that DVD, but nothing seems be able to rip it.. if xbmc can read it, why can't other software could? The laser reading the surface is still the same.. ain't it? ^_^
