Some questions before buy/install
#1
Hi, I think of changing my mediacenter to a mac mini with XMBC. But before I have a few questions and I hope you guys can help me out.

1. Does it play movies inside rar-achives, or do I have to unrar everything?

2. Does it autodownload coverart and movieinfo?

3. Does it support networks hdds, so I can stream from my NAS too?

4. Can it be setup to download subtitles automaticly from ie swesub.nu/undertexter.se ?

Hope you can help me out with this.
Kind regards

Hi,

1 Yes, (Stream media STORED, (NOT COMPRESSED) directly from RAR and ZIP archives

2: Yes if named correctly it is almost 100% accurate. Say,

King King (2006)
The Matrix (2002)
etc

3:Yes SMB is supported inside XBMC, other protocols are done through OS. Like FTP, NFS or AFP.

4:Yes there is an add-on for that.

Also before purchasing a Mac Mini 2010 please note that only 10.6.3 version of the OS is able to do hardeware decoding due to a bug in 10.6.4, 10.6.5 and 10.6.6
