Windows 7 smb shares not accepting passwords
#1
I have all my video files shared on my Windows 7 box but for some reason the XBMC on my ATV2 just keeps asking for the username and password. I they are right. I can get to them from my laptop but XBMX just won't access them. No errors just keeps asking for U/P. Any suggestions?

Try setting up your source this way:

The password would be embedded into the share location, so you won't get prompted each time you access the share.

Tried that. It isn't that it keeps asking every time i try to access the file but when I enter the u/p it just pops back up asking for it again. I can't even add it there.

Do you have Windows Live Essentials 2011 (And/or latest version of MSN) installed at all? I had the same issue, Add/Remove programs didn't list the sign-in assistant as being installed. But as soon as i uninstalled Essentials 2011 it worked perfectly from then on.

Navigate to the following location in the registry editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINSystemCurrentControlSetServicesLa nManServer Parameters
1. Double Click on restrictnullsessaccess and change the 1 value to a 0? NOTE: There is no need to "save" these changes, as you make changes to the registry it is saved automatically.

I reinstalled Windows Live (my shares were instantly broken again), then I Windows Share Manager and selected Sharing Registy Fix in the program and rebooted - All Fixed! and I still get to use MSN Messenger/Windows Live.

Here's a link to where I got the program plus a youtube video:

Heres the program:
