[LIVE] No Audio over HDMI (ATI Chipset)
#1
First time install of XBMC Live (current version)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
Integrated graphics (Radeon HD 4250)

Sound works over analog, but not HDMI. I've connected the hdmi cable to my TV. I've been searching through the forums, but haven't yet found a solution. I unmuted S/PDIF in Alsamixer, but still don't have sound. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to Linux, so the solution may be quite simple.

Solved the problem. I made a file called .asoundrc in /home/xbmc containing:

Quote:pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3
}

In system settings under audio it still shows analog, but I'm getting audio over HDMI.

It would be interesting to know why this solved it.
