HOW-TO Play Live TV/Internet Video in XBMC (including some sample streams!)
Hi, I've tried to follow the procedure above to create a stream, it looks to me like it is a simple http stream, but the .strm file I created did not play well.

Can you guide me please?

The live player is the following: http://www.tvm.com.mt/live/

And the stream URL is http://tvm.23video.com/v.ihtml/player.ht...autoPlay=1

Since it's just an HTTP stream, I simply added the URL into the .strm file. Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance

HOWEVER -- Trying to stream video from the internet to xbmc - whether it be live sports, pron or anything else - has proven to be the single most frustrating exercise in futility I have ever had the misfortune to be engaged in!
This, and all the other forums, I have searched all assume a level of knowledge that the average person new to htpc's and to xbmc in particular simply does not have. And I have not found anything approaching an explanation any where.

What was my HTPC is now simply another windows computer connected to my tv and I am now watching my locally stored videos in media player, and watching my streams in internet explorer.

I hope that some day somebody from the XBMC community will write a streaming guide in PLAIN ENGLISH.
Simply telling me to put my rtmp data into a .strm file is not a plain english guide.
It may as well be written in ancient runes.

What is the difference between a strm file and a playlist?
WTF is rtmp data and where do I find it?
And when I have my .strm file what do I do with it?
What does "make sure you are not in library mode" mean?
How do I check?
If I am in "library mode", how do I get out of it?
And once I've figured all that out, how do I play my .strm?
Is there a different way of doing things if my videos are pre-recorded and stored on a site (eg YouTube-style) vs a live stream (eg live sports)?

I was in your shoes about 1 year ago when I didn't even know about xbmc. But I taught myself how to code streams and decode them from live transmissions.

It took some time but I wanted it so bad that it didn't bother me. I hated regex but eventually taught myself that also

Are you looking for specific steams that I may help u with?
Hi all, I am a newbie to XBMC. I am running Gotham and it is working great. I have been trying for 2 weeks now to stream few live feeds with no success. I can load Google Chrome, and view the stream from there, but I would prefer to watch it in XBMC.

The URLs I am trying to stream is:

http://www.africawebtv.com/2013/12/tfm-s...irect.html

http://www.africawebtv.com/2013/10/rts1-...-live.html

http://www.africawebtv.com/2013/11/rdv-tv-senegal.html

http://www.africawebtv.com/2013/11/teles...irect.html

I have made a strm file with that link--does not work.

If anyone can help,I would appreciate it. I know that I will understand it if I see one example.

Thanks all for your help.
PseudoTV Live’s installation process is the same as any unofficial XBMC add-on. First, download the stable master release .ZIP file here. Once downloaded, fire up XBMC and navigate to System -> Settings -> Add-ons -> Install from zip file and browse to the location of the PseudoTV Live plugin .ZIP you just downloaded.

(only joking but you see my position )

do I need to copy & paste this code somewhere to get live TV working ?

I prefer to side step & ignore the programming code (in thread if possible as I don't have time to take an interest in it etc
I posted a link for you to read.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. And I apologize for begging for help on my first post, but I'm completely lost! After a couple weeks of piecing together the puzzle, and having no luck tracking down the rtmp url, or any other needed parameters, I'm here to ask for help.

I'm looking to pipe the following stream into Kodi: http://kron4.com/watch-kron-4-newscasts/

Long story, but my wife watches the morning news here to get traffic information that's relevant to where she actually drives and the station is not local so we don't get it on our antenna. The is the last piece of the puzzle I need to be able to disconnect our cable without any flak from the better half. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Just a newbie at this so be kind, when making up a stream file do you paste url and then add. strm behind it to the text file.
Huh
You have a file with the extension .strm (ie the last five characters of the filename are .strm) and the contents of the file is the url.

Are you sure it is .strm not .strm.txt?
