[Windows]Best solution for current hardware
#1
Hello everyone.. I'm a recent user on this forums and in the usage of XBMC.

I'm currently using the follwing hardware which has Win7 installed connected to my 32" LCD Television.

What I would like to ask is for opinions on how to "silence" this machine so that I'm able to enjoy the pure experience of a media center device...

Motherboard: ASUS M3N-H/HDMI
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+, 2900 Mhz
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce 8300
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 2x500GB + 2x1TB contained in 2 Stripes (1TB + 2TB)

All of this has a stock cooler and a bequiet PSU...

I'm opened to all kind of sugestions!

Move the 4 HDD's into some sort of external storage solution (NAS).

I also use speedfan to keep my CPU fan at 1200-1400 RPM's which is nearly silent.

Moving the Hard Disks to a NAS is part of solution, but I would have still 1 HDD for the OS on the computer!

What about getting and SSD for the OS? A 40gb OCZ can be had for less than $100.

yes.. an SSD for it

But what about CPU and PSU cooling? any sugestions on coolers and PSU?

I think all the noise will come from there with the HDD being splitted to a NAS and the SSD on the machine

Um, you need a case like this to be cool:

120mm fans are the coolest options. Next you need a 120mm heatsink and a 120mm PSU:
