How to play DVD
#1
Hi, Folks,

This should be brain-dead simple, no? How do you play a DVD?

I expected that it should either auto-launch when I insert the disc in the drive, or alternatively I should be able to start a DVD player application and hit Play.

I can ssh into the machine and see that the disc is mounted:
/dev/sr1 on /media/CRZ0NNW7 type udf (ro,nosuid,nodev,relatime,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=77,iocharset=utf8)

From "Videos" at the main xbmc screen I can navigate into the files on the DVD, but it's not clear to me how to play them.

I am running today's stable version from live .iso image. The only possible rub is that I am trying it out in a VirtualBox virtual machine under OpenSuSE Linux 11.2 (or 11.3?)

Any pointers appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

I think you normally play the .ifo file. Alternatively at the directory above, i.e. the point where selecting the DVD shows the files on it, select the DVD and press Play.
