#1
Hey, Please help me

I search the forums and net but everything i tries fails. I got the remote working fine when I was using XBMC Dharma Betas and upgraded to 10.0, but not after a reinstall I can get it to work.

I tried this guide:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=66658

and this guide
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=84504

and this guide
http://redherring2.wordpress.com/2009/06...tup-guide/

and others but is doesn't seem to work.

I get the errors
*stopping exucution deamon: irexec [fail]
*Stopping remote control daemon(s): LIRC [fail]
ERROR: Module lirc_wb677 does not exist in /proc/modules

I have taken a screen shot from Putty

Any one know how this can be resolved, kinda makes the HTPC useless without a remote Sad

Hi,

you can use OpenELEC. there the remote is working out of the box.

Sorry, I'm bit confused. Isn't OpenElec another Media Center software? I would like to use XBMC?

"Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center, or OpenELEC for short, is a small Linux distribution built from scratch as a platform to turn your computer into a complete XBMC media center. OpenELEC is designed to make your system boot as fast as possible and the install is so easy that anyone can turn a blank PC into a media machine in less than 15 minutes." from openelec.tv :-) also look at my signature

OK so just to get it right it's like XBMC-Live just optimized for ASRock Ion? And I would still have XBMC 10.0 and access to addons, repos and that sort of stuff? And can I use SMB with my NAS?

It's not just optimized for asrock ion, it's made to support just about any htpc.

Not all boxes are tested yet, and if you do get any problems, they will be fixed.

Moving on to your next question, openelec currently uses pre 10.1, so it contains some of the fixes that are being released for xbmc 10.1. All addons and repos will work just fine.

Samba will also work fine.

doubt that's the right image, can you give me the full name of your box? so i could check the hardware specs and give you the correct image.

edit:
It's this box? http://www.asrock.com/nettop/overview.as...20330HT-BD
Then you should use this image: http://releases.openelec.tv/OpenELEC-ION....3.tar.bz2

Hey again. The remote works great but now I got a problem with the Wifi. I'd SSH into the ethernet cable connected box, and do like in the guide here:

http://openelec.tv/forum/12-guides-tips-...et-up-wlan

(I'm not sure whether to include the " " but it doesn't solve the problem anyway)

But I aren't getting any wifi connection. I'm using a WPA2 secured wifi network. Could I use the ubuntu code like I used for XBMC live like this

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wpa-driver wext
wpa-ssid <your_essid>
wpa-ap-scan 1
wpa-proto WPA RSN
wpa-pairwise TKIP CCMP
wpa-group TKIP CCMP
wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK
wpa-psk <your_hex_key> [IMPORTANT: See "WPA-PSK key generation"]

or won't this work since it's another Linux distro? Or how can I get wifi working, I think the problem is that my encryption is WPA2 (no way to change that, the ISP rules that), or is the PASSPHRASE mentioned in the guide really the "hex key"?

sorry this one guide is outdated, you can setup network via XBMC in our settings addon, you will found in program addons, give it a try and let me know if it works

Hi Vinther,

Are you using the HDMI connector for sound? If so, can you ssh into the OpenELEC box and run the following command:

Code:
aplay -L | paste

You should get a link returned, can you post it here please?

Thanks

I have one of the Asrock 330 boxes myself - a 1st gen. I'm attempting to use the HDMI out for sound and have done so in the past on older distro but not able to on 10.x Ubuntu. I might also be able to help you or provide aplay output if it would be helpful...
