Preview - Spanish Grand Prix

Code:
Round Five of the 2011 Formula One season and the first race of the year on European soil. The Circuit de Catalunya is a venue the teams know very well from winter testing. After eight days there earlier in the year, the teams will have a head start in preparing for this weekend’s race although they will still have to consider the high track temperatures and a new, more durable, hard tyre compound. The question everyone is wondering, though, is whether 2011’s changes will transfer to the notoriously overtaking-unfriendly track…

The familiarity of Barcelona has probably contributed to it seldom producing thrilling races in recent years, and the track has become renowned as being dominated from pole. 2000 was the last time the pole sitter didn’t triumph and with the form that Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull have been showing, it’s hard to see a different outcome this year. Here’s hoping that the “Pirelli-effect” may again lead to an eventful race.

“I’m particularly interested to see how the 2010 rule-changes affect Sunday’s grand prix. We’ve seen how DRS and KERS Hybrid have influenced the racing so far this season, so we’ll see how things progress at Barcelona given that the Spanish Grand Prix has previously shown limited opportunities for overtaking.”
Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren team principal

Will Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel claim their fifth pole position in 2011? If they do, can anyone overturn recent history to take victory away from them?

Ones To Watch
They may have their own team now but all the local fans will be cheering on Fernando Alonso. However, since he won in 2006, Barcelona hasn’t been too kind to the national hero, although last year’s second place owed much to other’s misfortunes. Too often, it has seemed like a case of trying too hard to perform in front of his adoring fans – will 2011 be Alonso’s year? The Turkish Grand Prix may point to an upturn in Ferrari’s fortunes but it’s worth bearing in mind that Ferrari started on the ideal strategy where other front runners switched to it.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the grid, Spain’s own team continues to make inroads with Tonio Liuzzi putting his HRT between the two Virgin drivers in Turkish qualifying. Can they make further progress on home soil?

I love F1 and those backgrounds are absolutely perfect for my 'racing' personality.

Still, my preferences fall on MotoGP.

Can you guys adapt the work to MotoGP?

I have updated the original tvshow level nfo for MotoGP including riders and teams... unfortunately the team pics from MotoGP.com are not as clear as the F1 pics. Sad

HUGE thanks to the OP, this has solved a big issue for me! Smile

Looks real good and organized. I tried incorporating it in and I still can't get XBMC to pick it up under tv shows. I am going to try a few other things.

you should have video files in the same folder and with the same name (except extension) as the nfo files.

Currently I have Formula 1 as it's own tab on the home menu. Everything is importing except the info. I am making progress and have been reading across these forums non stop for a few days now. When doing home theater related things, never tell your wife what you are working on. She is telling me that this has been sucking me in since day 1 lol.

Is it possible to create a scraper for Formula 1?

It is very much possible to create a scraper for Formula 1 and other sports. It very much would be like tvdb.com being copy-pasted with their style of api, but only hosting tvshows that are sports events.
That is theoretically possible. Pratically, who pays the price in time and money to create it?

Although it is partially powerful, custom nfo's do a really good job of storing info that a web-scraper can provide.

Anyone have the files for the next 10 or so races? The initial download that I got only had up to the German GP.
