Change resolution to 720p?
#1
settings-> appearence -> look and feel

theres a settings called resolution there, but i can only choose between ntsc 4:3 and ntsc 16:9 ...

where do i enable hdtv, 720p / 1080i ?
#2
hi. this is an extremely common question.

1. you need to have a hdtv pack (component video cables) attached to your xbox.
2. you need to enable the 720p and 1080i modes in the microsoft dash settings screen (assuming your tv supports these).
3. then, and only then will you be able to select the hdtv modes in xbmc.

cheers.

oh, sorry i should have given more information.

i have always used 720p with the hdpack in earlier versions of xbmc.

so i have already enterned the settings in the dash etc.

so it should work ... is there some log file somewhere that could contain some answers?

check the top of your log file - it details there which av pack it's picked up + what modes etc. you can set.

you may have to lower your loglevel to 1 or 0.

where can i change loglevel?

i could add that im using xbmc 2005-02-01

that's fine.

it clearly notes that you have support for 720p, and hence you will be able to choose this in the appearance->gui resolution setting.

cheers,
jonathan

under apperance i got:
look and feel
view options
screensaver
gui filters

under look and feel i have
skin
resolution ( i can only choose between ntsc 4:3 and 16:9 )
language

etc

no "gui resolution" no options that even hints that it could be used for changing the res. Smile except apperance->look and feel->resolution but there no option for 720p there.
#9
are you sure there is no 720p option? note that some skins have the up and down arrows round the wrong way.

yes - resolution is what you need to change.

yes, i have even dubbled checked with the 2 skins that came with the 02-01 release.

thats why its weird Smile look and feel->resolution was the first option i checked ofcourse, otherwise i wouldnt be writing here.

i removed all xbmc related files and uploaded a fresh compilation and now it works ...

if only ac3 output would work this would be great Smile i dont want to go back to older versions ...

i ran into this problem also for a while - do you get an error code when the ms dash tries to boot? i did and figured out that i needed to lock my hdd (done via the bios) in order to get ms dash to load.

dude, i told you in the 1st thread , you need a high def pack or component leads and your xbox to be in ntsc mode.

i ditched the scart & got some cheap ass component leads off ebay for like £6. (try searching on ebay - "component xbox" - without the "quotes")

i put my xbox in to ntsc mode.

i enabled 720p & 1080i in ms dash (you wont see this option with standard ms leads)

i opened xbmc & chose 720p as my res

its tons better.

convinced?
most (if not all) questions have been asked & answered soooooooooo many times, use the search button. (i think i'll put that in my sig!) - done :)
