[Windows]xbmc freezes 10-20 seconds into a movie and no audio

Sad
When I try to play a movie (any file type, avi.. mkv.. whathaveyou) there is no sound what so ever. after 10-20 seconds, the video freezes, and if I try to press any buttons like pause or rewind, XBMC freezes completely. I've had XBMC for a while and it's always worked great until today. i uninstalled and reinstalled the 10.1 version, but no success. whats going on?

Windows 7 64 bit home premium

If the sound device is invalid it can cause the symptoms you're seeing. Check the sound settings. If the sound is using the audio/headphone socket on your PC check that the speakers/headphone are plugged in. Windows 7 will helpfully spot nothing is plugged in and disable the audio, breaking XBMC in the process.

Thanks, sound is through HDMI. I don't know what happened, but it seems to have fixed itself.
