Impossible to jailbreak for now?

zoster Wrote:The simple reason this works for some is that cydia has stored your SHSH for you from a previous jailbreak.
The host entry points to the cydia server.

Maybe for some but I didn't use cydia or anything like that. My ATV2 iOS4.0 came out of the box and onto my Network it said there was an upgrade available so I upgraded it to iOS4.3.
It was only on 16/03 that I tried to downgrade it and it worked using the method @svela posted. So no previous jailbreaks or host entry points on the cydia server in my case.
So not always the simple reason.............

Hello!

Hi Svela,
Yes it keeps complaining in iTunes that this is the build is not meant for the requested device. Huh

Sure you got the right firmware and the right IP in your hosts-file?

My hosts file is already pointing to the ip of gs.apple.com
Thats the whole point - it should NOT point to apple, but to Cydia

I really appreciate this community for helping out. Guess what? Today, it worked!!!!! What I did was to download a fresh copy of the ipsw, no changes in the steps described. You guys rock and thanks again for looking out for me. Laugh

Ya since Apple's signing 4.2.1 again iTunes won't complain about trying to install a 4.2.1 ipsw. Won't be for too long though... everyone grab your SHSH blobs while you can.

It'd be interesting to know why they started signing it again... think I read there's some bugs in 4.3 so maybe they've decided to sign 4.2.1 until 4.3.1 is released. http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/21/ios-...two-weeks/
