External Monitor Resolution on EEE PC 901
#1
Hi everyone

I have installed XBMC Live on my EEE PC 901. The problem is with the external monitor. I have connected the netbook to an external monitor using Component VGA, but XBMC does not recognize the second monitor. It only mirrors the internal netbook LCD . This also means that I cannot set the resolution higher than 800x600 (The external monitor has 1900x1020).

Is there any way I can fix this problem? I am quite new to Linux, so any help is appreciated.

You are probably missing correct xorg.conf file (video configuration file) that will enable your external monitor.
Try booting up EEE from ubuntu live cd and then using GUI tools enable external monitor. Once this is working save /etc/X11/xorg.conf file somewhere.

After you boot up your xbmc live you can then use this xorg.conf file.
AFAIK xbmc live does not come with any X server installed so you will have to work on that first. I don't use live version so I am not an expert on it.

If this just doesn't make any sense to you then I think you should try installing ubuntu on your eee first and then add xbmc.
