I first installed ubuntu where the wifi works just fine after a fresh install.
Then I installed XBMC and changed login to go straight to XBMC.
In XBMC i got no wifi connection.
I´ve read a lot of "guides" that are supposed to help but none seems do it
I've used ctrl+alt+F1 to get to console from XBMC.
I got it working ONCE with the guide in http://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/HowToUse
sudo pico /etc/network/interfaces
iface wlan_home inet dhcp
wpa-ssid mynetworkname
wpa-psk mysecretpassphrase
mysecrepassphrase in clear text. Tried ping 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) and it worked. After that I rebooted to get back in to XBMC and see if it still worked. It didnt. And now it wont work!
I get:
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval "randomnumber"
Tries 6 times then i get:
No DHCPOFFERS recieved.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
In the middle of a lot of text i find:
DHCPRELEASE on wlan0 to 192.168.0.1 port 67 - my router IP.
Im about tho throw the computer through the window and punch my fist into the wall. Iam that furious!:mad::mad:
Why cant it be simple? Why isnt XBMC using the same network settings as Ubuntu? Can I just copy Ubuntu settings over to XBMC?
Its not fun to manually copy the generated psk-key (as shown in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1884950 ).
Is there any way to get a network interface inside XBMC?
Google is not my friend, hope you are!
Any IRC channel up? Quakenet #ubuntu seems dead (lots of ppl but no activity)
If i manage to get it to work once more, how do I save it so it will work when I reboot?
