[RELEASE] TV Time (Video) Addon - A PseudoTV Modification
#16
mwkurt Wrote:jtucker1972,

Do we need to uninstall PseudoTV to install this one? Will there be any conflicts?

Thanks,
Mark

Nope. Shouldn't be any conflicts.

Fix for the custom channels not loading has been added to the latest build in the Git repository. See first post.

You will need to remove the previous add-on user data so that TV Time can rebuild it with the updated default settings. Delete everything inside ~\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\script.tvtime.

Love this addon and how it enhances the already running psuedo tv addon, tv time takes it to the next level. I know it's not possible with psuedo tv but with tv time can i make a channel with a folder from videos library that has not been added to either tv shows or movies? This would be amazing.

Just to clarify, it doesn't enhance, it is it's own independent addon seperate from PseudoTV. I just used the PseudoTV addon code and built upon it.

TV Time, uses the core PseudoTV code which relies on XBMC SmartPlaylists to query and build the filelist for each channel. XBMC SmartPlaylists only support files which have been scanned by XBMC, so the answer to your question is no.

Would it be possible to create a new group of custom channels to read in a custom folder and build a filelist? Sure. But here is the issue. How do we get the TV Show/Movie Title, Tagline/Episode Title, and Summary information needed for the EPG?

My question is why wouldn't this folder be scanned into XBMC so that XBMC parsers can pull the metadata for it and it would be accessible via the smartplaylists?

Still hanging for me on custom channel auto filling at 25% Sad I did update to the latest git and deleted the userdata for the plugin.

Heres a debug log

System has to be restarted. Tried with altering settings and without ( i.e. is if it just had a fresh install).

Has a standalone addon TV Time is excellent really good work. Smile

Has for the sort of content to be added without being added to tv library or movies I was thinking of stuff such as recorded football matches, the odd quiz show or one of documentary for the stuff the scraper dont like or want to add to the library.

Also it would be cool to add custom videos between movies saying something such has you are watching the horror movie channel not to unsimilar to the cinema experience script, these sort of very short videos would not be added to the library, also feature videos about how a movie was made or trailers could also be included.

Has for the EPG data cant having a custom made nfo with the videos work has a way for the EPG to show the relevant information with what's showing. I obviously don't know if such a thing is possible has I have no knowledge of how to make a script/addon just saying what I think would be a cool feature.

I, also, have lots of content that isn't indexed on TVDB so it doesn't show up in the TV Shows folder -- I have to watch it in the Videos folder. Lots of documentaries, less popular UK TV shows, etc. Would love it if TV Time could handle these. I have all my kids TV shows in sub-folders within a folder called Kids TV so all I would need TV Time to do would be to randomly play all content from that folder -- or any other folder I select.

jtucker1972 Wrote:zepfan, did you capture this log before or after you closed XBMC? The reason I ask, is that I've noticed that if there is an error, sometimes XBMC doesn't log it until it XBMC closes. Wait a few seconds for XBMC to complete the write to the log. The log attached didn't capture any errors. In fact, I am not even seeing where it started to build the channels.

I still believe I know where the problem is at, just not sure exactly what is causing it. It is stopping at importing your existing custom playlists. I will retest on my side, but I may need to get a copy of your existing channels to work with to replicate the issue. I will send you a PM.

im hanging at 25% too with and without custom channels on one of my *nix boxes...very busy today... log coming soon...

btw.. when it hangs. xbmc never closes.. and never writes a log(crashlog)... gotta kill xserv to get out off it. killall is not ending process.
look into more when im free latr

to test further i took off fill with preset channels and it started importing my own smartlist channels (have 50+). it got to 20 then said it could find any custom channels and that i should name them Channel_ . Ironically these very same channels, named that way, function perfectly in Pseudo.

Heres another debug log

jtucker1972,

The first playlist that I made was a "mixed playlist" with 2 Playlist of TV shows. I put it in Custom 1 and it worked as expected.
I tried adding a 3rd tv show to the playlist and now I get the error that "No channels can be found".
It should be noted that I have turned off everything that has to do with auto creation of channels and only have Custom 1 enabled, with the path to my smart playlist. It is named Channel_1.xsp.
Here is a snippet of error.log:

Perhaps you could tell me how to make a "mixed" playlist? Here is my current test playlist which I have located to the video playlist folder:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="mixed">
<name>Test Channel</name>
<match>all</match>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist Alias</rule>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist Ally McBeal</rule>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist 24</rule>
<limit>50</limit>
</smartplaylist>

Thanks,
Mark

For those having issues, can you post what operating system you are running? I think these are related to *nix systems. I will have to find a way to setup a unix system so I can test on it.

Here is what the Fill Custom Channels does so you understand the process.

1. It reads the contents of your video and mix playlist directories for any Channel_*.xsp files.
2. If found, it updates the corresponding Custom Channel number in the settings, e.g. Channel_11.xsp will be added to Custom Channel 11 setting and that channel is enabled.

After that, the script reads in all the channel settings and processes them. For custom channels, it copies the channel_x.xsp and renames the playlist to the presets folder so that it is inserted in the order you specified in the TV Time Order settings. If it is a mixed playlist, it copies the associated playlist over as well.

At this point you have a sequential list of Channel_x.xsp files in the presets folder.

I think the issue is related to how the python script is processing the file copies on *nix systems. I've tested on my windows boxes with very complex mixed playlists and it works on windows.

jtucker1972,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. For the life of me, I can not figure out how to implement a mixed playlist.

<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist Ally McBeal</rule>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist 24</rule>
<limit>50</limit>
</smartplaylist>

Thanks,
Mark

Make sure the playlist have the .xsp extension on them.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="mixed">
<name>Test Channel</name>
<match>one</match>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist Alias.xsp</rule>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist Ally McBeal.xsp</rule>
<rule field="playlist" operator="is">Playlist 24.xsp</rule>
<limit>50</limit>
</smartplaylist>

This is the default behavior of the smartplaylist editor so the script passes the filename and expects it to match. Without the extension, it can't find the filename so doesn't load the channel. Also, change match from all to one. No episode will match all three tvshows. Wink

THis is a different issue than the others. Please post a debug log. The video durations process uses the parsers from PseudoTV so I will need to see what the debug says.
