Have got the same problem. Booting off CD of XBMC Live 10.1.

System specs:
Nvidia GT430
ASUS M3N-SLI Deluxe (nv 8300 chipset)
HDMI out connected to Onkyo 705, connected to Panasonic TX-P50VT20
AMD Phenom II X4
4GB DDR2

Any solution would be greatly appreciated. I'm hesitant to install XBMC Live to a HDD until it boots properly from CD.

Sooo, i got mad and gave up, I got an other card!

I got the Nvidia EVGA 8400 GS, worked right off the bat with the live CD.

So the gt520 are too new and the drivers are not 100% yet, but I know some one will fix it.

Thanks every body for your postes Laugh

sudo apt-get install --reinstall xbmc xbmc-live xinit x11-xserver-utils

I have just had the same problem - I was trying to clone my XBMC Live HDD with Clonezilla (failed so far, but that's another story), and when I rebooted afterwards, got stuck at the login prompt.

BUT - hudo's suggestion got everything back to where it should be (thanks!) - now to find how to clone the disk without this happening again

By paying attention to what disk is target vs source? I do not think there is any other possibility to screw that one up? But that is a good way...probably why you are promted twice before the cloning is started.
