[WINDOWS] Problem with 1080 playback on E350 Zacate
#1
Question
Hi,

I have just build my first HTPC based on advice found on this excellent forum. (Especially thanks to eskro and homewreck for providing so much information to beginners like me SmileSmileSmile )

This is my setup

Asrock E350M1 Zacate
4GB DDR3
30GB Kingston SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
XBMC 10.1

My problem is that I can't playback 1080 video smoothly. The viedo stutters for some seconds, and then the image just freezes. I have no problem with 720 and lower video files.

Video codec for the files I have tried are H264 - MPEG-4 AVC. Framerate 30 or 60.

The problem exists in both xbmc and vlc.

Any idea what could be the problem? Do I need to install some codecs?

Sounds like ur not using DXVA at all. Did you enable it in XBMC settings?
Are you using the latest Catalyst v11.3?
Do you play the files using a wired connection?

Ahhh, I missed the DXVA setting. I have now enable DXVA2 in XBMC settings and playback is now perfect.

Thanks for the quick help Smile

yes even tho ZACATE platform outperforms any ION boards,
it still needs Video Acceleration (DXVA2) in order to flawlessly play 1080P files!!
