RE: Pivos Xios DS - davilla - 2012-12-15

There are no more M1 based Pivos XIOS DS left in the sales channel, they are all sold out. The M3 based Pivos XIOS DS replaces it.

Q: How to determine which XIOS DS hardware version you have (M1 or M3) ?
A: Check for the serial number
M1 --> S/N: 0002 G X XX XX XXXX
M3 --> S/N: 0002 G M3 X XX XX XXXX

RE: Pivos Xios DS - squijello - 2012-12-16

When new updates are released for the device, do I loose all my settings or are these customizations saved?

There saved, but it's recommended to wipe userdata anyway to prevent upgrade issues.

You can ssh into the pivos.

e.g. assuming your IP of the pivos is 192.168.1.2 (you can find out in the XBMC menu)

ssh [email protected]
letmein

rm -rf ./xbmc/ (be careful with this, don't miss type)

Then boot into recovery using power on and the pin, then upgrade.

So is there a linux build that works on the M3?
Are the M3 boxes available in the UK?
Does HD (HW acceleration) only work on the linux version?

Pivos Xios DS - DrowningApe - 2012-12-16

Android builds are also HW accelerated.

sorry to go on about this, but can i clarify once and for all?

if i buy a pivos xios, and install the latest android on it, and the latest xbmc, then hardware decoding will work within xbmc (without having to use an external player) and I can therefore play 720p and 1080p from xbmc?

I keep getting told elsewhere that xbmc on android cannot do hardware acceleration, so sorry i keep asking but I'm a bit confused.

Yes

Because the Pivos is the only one officially supported for hardware video decoding, at the moment. It is the original XBMC for Android development target.

RE: Pivos Xios DS - phistyle - 2012-12-17

what's new in the M3 hardware? I'm still on the fence and hoping for better hardware in the pivos

RE: Pivos Xios DS - thebearnecessit - 2012-12-17

The M3 is a faster processor. I think it's 1000Mhz instead of 800Mhz in the M1.

RE: Pivos Xios DS - Katch - 2012-12-17

The move from M1 to M2 was dictated by the factory producing the units - Pivos would have rather stayed with the M1.

M1 = 800MHz and 512Mb RAM
M2 = 10000MHz and 1Gb RAM

The team state that the change in hardware from M1 to M3 should be seamless - meaning end users will not be able to detect a difference in performance - the only real difference is needing to use a different build for each platform.

Not sure. I don't have a personal box to test with right now, but should be getting one soon in the mail. I'll let you know when it arrives.

Very curious if you've had a chance to test this? I'm interested in buying a few of these as gifts but 1080P over HTTPS or ssl webdav is a necessity.

Still waiting for it :(

never heard of an m2. i presume this is a typo?

also its 1000mhz im sure . 10 000 would be good Big Grin

RE: Pivos Xios DS - Katch - 2012-12-18

I've tested over HTTPS and ssl webdav succesfully
