Conclusion: This is a Slick little device, just slightly bigger in size than an Apple TV 3 and perfect if you want a dual boot Android Lollipop / OpenELEC device that also does 23.976fps HD Netflix and 23.976fps HD video in other copy protected, paid Android video streaming Apps. You won't get auto 23.976fps HD Netflix video sync on even the new NVIDIA Shield. Its a pleasure to watch. This is a world first for an AMLogic device and is the best of both OpenELEC and Android worlds in one well sorted media player. The WeTek guys really know what they are doing with their Software and more importantly - Firmware. WeTek are both a Kodi and OpenELEC sponsor, and it definitely shows in the passion they put into their products. Three Thumbs Up ! Tech Specs:

RE: WeTek Core 4K - wesk05 - 2015-09-15 Really interesting product. From the videos, it looks like it is Android TV OS (Leanback launcher), but from Christian's posts on WeTek forum it seems like it is running regular Android 5.1.1. Novel way to implement 24Hz auto switch for apps. Minix resorted to something different and it doesn't work with protected streaming. If there is a stutter every 90-120s, it suggests that the actual refresh rate could be 23.964-23.987Hz. RE: WeTek Core 4K - Skank - 2015-09-15 Nice looking device, what about 3d iso support and hd audio? RE: WeTek Core 4K - droidelec - 2015-09-18 @wrxtasy Thanks for Core introduction We are working fast to release device, iand t should be available from the next month. Just we want to be sure that everything is fine, and there are some ongoing certifications. @Skank 3D ISO we will test and let you know ASAP, regarding Audio device support Dolby and DTS and we use S812-H version of AMLogic SoC. The format doesn't exist on commercial media. Sorry, must have both for me to consider it.. RE: WeTek Core 4K - noggin - 2015-09-19 So - does the Wetek not support Dolby True HD OR DTS HD MA/HRA (with core) pass through? Given that DTS HD Coreless is unheard of 'in the wilde', and not used on Blu-ray, this sounds a bit disappointing? Does it implement DTS HD and Dolby True HD decoding to PCM with multichannel PCM output as the Pi 2 does? RE: WeTek Core 4K - wesk05 - 2015-09-19 (2015-09-19, 11:13)noggin Wrote: So - does the Wetek not support Dolby True HD OR DTS HD MA/HRA (with core) pass through? Amlogic S812-H natively cannot bitstream/decode DTS-HD Master Audio or High Resolution Audio. It is a licensing restriction. According to Minix/Amlogic, the SoC can support multichannel PCM (only 6 channels), but it has been disabled by Amlogic (? licensing restrictions). Kodi may support HD audio passthrough on WeTek Core if they have done something like VidOn. This is something that WeTek has to clarify. RE: WeTek Core 4K - movie78 - 2015-09-19 I think it will be easy to just say no it doesn't support HD Audio. No HD Audio No 3D MKV or ISO support. I'm OUT!! RE: WeTek Core 4K - wrxtasy - 2015-10-05 For those that want a bit of sensible info, minus the Marketing Hype, on 3D and HD Audio and how it really is not that important in a casual use, non theatre setup Kodi box, (especially if you don't have high quality speakers) Have a read of the following threads... http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=94268&pid=2116393#pid2116393 http://www.avsforum.com/forum/149-blu-ray-players/1044085-dolby-digital-pro-dts-master-hoax.html This quote succinctly sums up the HD Audio discussion: (2015-09-30, 20:36)Soli Wrote: Sorry for coming in a little late... RE: WeTek Core 4K - tomvs123 - 2015-10-09 This is looking more interesting now that I've returned my fire tv 2. The product page is up: https://wetek.com/product/wetek-core It's not on their store page yet. Do you think this is able to decode 1080p h.264 hi10p without stuttering? And it says it supports "8-bit H265." Does this mean only software decoding for main 10? |
