Grangey. Wrote:Angelscry,

Im sorry if Im being a complete idiot here, but im trying to follow your how to add "lnk" (winodows games) into the file launcher as a seperate directory.

So what i have done, it up so it goes programs-advancedlauncher-games-lnks , everything is great and almost there however I fear I may have misread something. (this wiki http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=File_shortcuts)

In order to launch the seperate lnks, I read your wiki is that I could add "any executable file" to use the windows start command- so for this example, I used the crysis warhead executable file as the master executable. However now whenever I go to launch any of my lnk files within the program, it just launches crysis warhead.

Have a missed something here? How can I select an executable file that will launch the respective lnks, rather than the actual exe itself?

Ive search for the answer but cant find it so id be really greatful for your help.

Thanks
Grangey
Seems... that you miss something into the .lnk launcher configuration (or that my explanations on the wiki page are not clear). Could you please post here your launchers.xml file (using pastebin service), so I will be able to see what goes wrong and help you. Nod

I must have missed it, where do i find that? :S

I don't know if my problem has anything to do with Advanced Laucher (which I found to be a great piece of plugin) but I hope someone can help me.
I'm on xbmc-live 10.1 and and using Advanced Laucher for playing with gens / gs (sega emulator). Everything is working fine except one annoying thing. The screen goes blank every 10 minutes (sound still on) after I've started a rom.
The very same thing happens in ZSNES too !

Does anyone know how to fix that ? I've bought an xbox360 wireless controller extra for playing with the emus on xbmc but with this issue it's not that great No

Your problem might be related to the sleep timer parameter controlled by XBMC. You may have set it to 10 minutes. So after 10 minutes XBMC automatically turn off the screen. You can fix this by 2 manners :
  • simply deactivate the sleep timer of XBMC (system settings)
  • use a .bat script to suspend XBMC when you start an application.

It depend of your operating system :
  • For Windows Xp: Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\XBMC\addons\advanced-launcher
  • For Vista/Windows 7: Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\advanced-launcher
This file contain all the launchers configurations and metadata of your applications, roms, files, images managed by advanced launcher.

Sleep timer is off it's not the source of the problem but the suspend script you've suggested is worth to try but I guess it's only for windows, isn't it ?

Edit : as I see there is a linux version too. Thx I'll test it !

umm i cant find it there- or even a file directly called "advanced-launcher"- closest route is: C:\Users\Grangey\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\plugin.program.advanced.launcher\ and only xml there is "addon", and in the folder within this folder theres an xml called "settings" neither of which appear to be what youre reffering to :S

If it is exactly always after 10 minutes it must be related to sleep timer. If it is not XBMC wich control it... it must be another application or the default settings of your system.

Oupsss... sorry my mistake... (I'm actually at work)... Path must be something like this :
  • For Windows Xp: Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\XBMC\userdata\addons\plugin.program.advanced.launcher\
  • For Vista/Windows 7: Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\addons\plugin.program.advanced.launcher\

It's exactly always 10 minutes and sleep timer in xbmc is off.
I've just tried your suspend script but sadly it didn't work for me.
When I start a rom xbmc seems to suspend (screen goes blank)but after a couples of sec it comes right away backSad
Do you have any idea what should I do now ?

Try to close XBMC when starting a rom like this : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=40
If it is not working, the problem comes from elsewhere.

Sadly it didn't worked either after I've set it up with the close script. The emu didn't started and xbmc has restarted.

Thx for the help anyway I'm shure it has nothing to do with this great launcher anyway.

There is still one minor thing that bothers me. Gens / GS runs fine with the launcher but its not that great as a Sega emulator like Kega Fusion is. I just can't get it to launch. If I set it up the same way as I did with gens and I start a game than xbmc vanishes for a fraction of a sec than comes back.
I've tried to launch it with the xbmc close and the suspend script but none of them worked.
If I start Kega Fusion in Ubuntu Live 10.04 i got no problems.
Is there a way to start it in xbmc live ? Huh

@Angelscry

Looking at your 1st post I see you have views like Showcase for Adv Launcher and I like the RE 5 view too. I am using Alaska Revisited and I do not have these views available, can I d/l them anywhere?

Resident Evil 5 view is from Cirrus Extended Skin : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=90693
Advanced Launcher do not provide any specific views. All views comes from skins.
