Hello
I'm using XBMC as standalone application on Arch linux box.
There is a humming noise coming out from the hard disk.
But the problem occurs ONLY when picture files from Pictures menu are loading.
Is there anyone with the same problem?

Hm, but I built my HTPC just 1 week ago.
I can't believe that my brand new hard disk is defective.
(If I have to buy new one, I will use Clonezilla to clone whole the hard disk. This HTPC is home server, too.)

Why not just clone it and RMA it to be safe?

RMA (Return-Merchandise-Authorization) means that you give your Harddrive back where you buyed it by using your Garanty / Warranty.
Clonezilla Live CD is good for copying a whole System.
Cheers

Most online vendors that I have bought items from in the past usually have a 30 day window after purchase where you can return the item for replacement/refund. Once you are outside that 30 day window then you'd have to contact the item manufacturer of the hard drive to get a warranty replacement ifthe drive is defective.

Clone and dump. Well I'd at least clone to be safe.
