New Haswell NUC Problems
#1
Hi

I've just bought the new i5 Haswell NUC, stuck 8GB of ram in it and a 256GB mSata SSD.

I've loaded OpenELEC intelx86_64 and it all went smoothly....... until... I tried to play my full quality m2TS files (15GB to 40GB is size).

The interface runs superfast as you'd expect but the same files that I've happily been playing on my WD TV Live for the past 2 years (either over gigabit lan or usb) cause the NUC to stutter to the point when it looks like the video has pause (1 or 2 fps).

Now I expect I've not set something right, but I'm clueless to what.

Anyone got any suggestions, I'm seriously gutted at the moment.

Cheers

Looks like misconfigured Audio.

Disable all the audio codecs including: AC3, DTs, DTS-HD, TrueHD, LPCM and set your speaker numbers to 2.0 and retry. For any more information logfile is needed,
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Wow, that's stopped the stuttering? Though I'm confused as to why the audio would cause a visual issue?

I am currently testing on a monitor, so I expected to get no sound, but will this work when I plug it into my receiver?? It is expecting some feedback from the receiver or something?

Also, with me turning all that lot off, I plugged a set of headphones into the NUC to see if there was any sound, but nothing (I do have audio set to HDMI though so this may be the issue).

Thanks a lot for the help so far, I unfortunately think I'll be back before long, but thank god there are people with the knowledge (and the patience to help).

Cheers

I you tell 8 audio channels, but Alsa can only open two ... then yeah, packages don't come through and the retrying of doing AddPacktets, you see as stuttering. Same for passthrough, btw. especially the bitstream codecs.
