Videos not playing from SMB
#1
Hey there guys,

I am new to kodi (which I am running on an amazon fire TV) and I am trying to setup a system where I can upload files on my computer to a folder which is public and then play those files using Kodi.

I did some research and i think SMB is the best option for me, but i am running into a problem: I can see all the files just fine, but am unable to play any of them.

Here is the log file that I have: http://pastebin.com/jPXK2ZRu

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks in advance,
Dinomite

Can you play the files from a formatted USB stick?

@ Dinomite00, basically you will have to run either SPMC or Kodi Isengard because you need the upgraded SAMBA3 protocols in these releases to communicate with Windows properly.

Wow this worked! I deleted my previous install completely and did this from scratch and it seems to be working now! I literally spend a good 6-7 hours trying everything from setting up an NFS (which also didn't work) to AFTP and everything in between.

Thanks so much for the advice and solution!
