3 pin fan adapter??
#1
I wanted to replace the fan on my 3x5 HDD caddy for a silent one.

The old fan has this plug:

The new fan has this plug:

Can someone tell me the correct names for them or where can I get an adapter ideally in the UK?

You might be able to use a pin or other fine-pointed object to depress the metal tabs on the back of the plastic connector to release each of the wires. Do that for both fans. You can then insert the wires from your new fan into the old plastic connector (which is compatible with your HDD caddy).

I just gave that ago and the crimps are a totally different size. If it was possible to pry open the crimps I could probably get it to work but they are too small and tight.
If I can't find anything by tomorrow I'm gonna cut the wires and solder them together.

Or simply file down the locators on the new connector until it fits.
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.

The new one is bigger so even if I file the plastic down the plug wouldn't stay on the pins because it will be too slack.
