It, unfortunately, is missing a Bink (.bik) sample, but it was tested already so it's no big deal.

Ah cool.

FFmpeg supports Bink, but XBMC does not consider the .bik file extension to be a video file, and therefore refuses to play it.

You can fool XBMC into playing the file, by renaming it to .avi.

See the m_videoExtensions line in https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...ttings.cpp

look for videoextensions in http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...ttings.xml
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

If anyone was wondering, I made this thread in hopes that the unsupported formats would be made supported by default rather than something you can support through advanced settings/manipulating code. That's why it has the "[feature request]" tag. Just wanted to clear that up really quick just in case.

I am absolutely sure that XBMC supports VC1 and VP8. Seeing as XBMC has has full Blu-Ray codec support (VC1) and support for WebM stream (VP8) for at least 2 years now.

@fd4ec3d7dc88, as I wrote earlier - I tested playback of the bik cutscenes from "The Force unleased" (after adding .bik as videoextension via advancedsettings) and had no video and somewhat odd audio. So it's kinda supported, but not really working well.

Bumping this. Still no CineForm support. Is ffmpeg or external player the only way to go for playback? Seems ffmpeg isn't quite there yet.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge - please click the plus to the left below to give thanks

It needs documentation submitting to the ffmpeg dev's, see http://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/1087
