Help with shuttle sk22g2 spdif 5.1 audio
#1
Good day,

I just built a htpc from a shuttle barebone sk22g2, with AMD Athlon 64x2 5000+, 4GB Ram, 2TB Samsung F4 HDD, Zotax GT630 on PCIe slot. Video Plays well via network thru USB Wifi Dongle audio thru hdmi to LCD TV. I will be using it along side my old receiver which unfortunately accepts only spdif (toslink) for 5.1 digital audio. The shuttle MB is based on realtek ac97 onboard audio (I have installed an optional optical header). I am running Windows 7 64 bit , I cannot seem to activate the spdif output on the audio properties, ( I have updated the latest driver from realtek). Also, on xbmc, if I use optical audio, video stutters significantly.

Since I need to use a spdif (optical) interface for the receiver;

How can I make my onboard optical output via realtek work in xbmc without affecting my video playback.
If I install a PCI audio card with spdif (toslink) output jack, can I output real 5.1 thru it from xbmc without any playback issues?

Any help guys?
