There are several Blu-ray titles on the market (Sonys "Mastered in 4K" releases) which have an extended color gamut, xvYCC, but XBMC seems to downgrade these movies to yuv420p. Would be lovely if it was possible to output these at it's proper color gamut (resulting in less banding).

Yes, what's with that? Is there ANY software media player that can properly handle xvYCC videos? Intel graphics supports xvYCC so I believe it is only a matter of proper handling of gamut metadata and the extra information.
