Intel VAAPI howto with Leia v18 nightly based on Ubuntu 18.04 server
This thread is not about Jarvis. We prepare for Krypton v17.

All the Jarvis builds won't have this EGL work, though HEVC support should "work", with wrong colors and most likely too slow but it should somehow work - 8 bit only.

Sorry, I saw the thread started with 15.2 and had thought (without reading all 191 pages) that the more recent work was on Kodi 16. That's what I get for not reading the whole thread.....

Anyway, thanks for your reply.

You mention Jarvis build will most likely not work properly with HW decode, therefore - I have no desire to go there. To be clear, the discussion this thread refers to Kodi 15.2+? Were you able to get h/w decode working properly on 15.2 custom builds? If so, is there an intel openelec build you recommend I could d/l to test?

I've installed http://fritsch.fruehberger.net/openelec/...4cf.img.gz
and experience black screen issue (need to off/on the AVR to fix). I believe I've read about this being fixed in December?

When? Always? Only on Tuesdays? In which combination? After playing a special video? After a car passed your house?

Did you send the logfiles by stagecoach?

Calm down Smile There has been reported issue when screen goes black (after playing a video with adjustable refresh rate on iirc) and you need to poke AVR to fix this. Something like that happened to me on a beebox and denon avr. I remember reading about this being fixed some time ago so experiencing this with the build from January surprised me. If this is not expected I will collect the logs for sure.

Yeah - you need to turn on debuglogging please, prior to switching. Also include dmesg | pastebinit

Upated to latest build and watched serie now is not happening so seems to be fixed with build : OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-7.0-devel-20160113193434-r21911-gcd1b1d6

Its kinda random (for me), i had a few days in a row where it not happened at all, and last night it happens 3 times in a row... Never cacht it with a debug log :/

I try to force it with start/stop later

We should do dmesg | pastebinit when we are in the black screen I guess?

Afterwards is fine. Also if you can, boot the computer with drm.debug=0xe in kernel command line, then we can directly file upstream bugs.

kernel stuff is way over my head fritsch :/

But If its easy to do on a chromebox and you tell me how I do my best Smile

Code:
mount -o remount,rw /flash
nano /flash/syslinux.cfg and place this drm.debug=0xe behind the other stuff in the kernel command line (same line, no new line)
Save the file with CTL o and exit with CTL x
mount -o remount,rw /flash
reboot

Whenever you fuckup that file you can change it again with a live boot cd or another OE live stick.
