Hate to disagree with the boss, but the nightlies have some show stopping issues (to me anyway) that you should take into consideration before using.
If you go with a newer ios then you need a nightly for hardware acceleration. But then you lose AC3/DTS support. See below:

4.2.1 (8C154) = AC3/DTS working
4.3 (8F191m) = AC3/DTS not working

Also, if you attempt to skip ahead during a video with the nightlies you will run into issues. The video slows down to a crawl and you have to stop and re-start it over.
That said, if you need video ts or iso support the nightlies are the only way to go.
If not, I would stick with 4.2.1 and last official build.
