[PATCH] Philips Ambilight-like RGB-Output on SmartXX
Last time I tried that one it took about 1 second to complete, so a really high cpu usage sounds about right.

Ok thanks for the update, at least I know I haven't configured it wrong. Smile

I'll get a cheap NVidia that support VDPAU too.. hopefully that will do the trick.

same issue here on linux with intel graphics (G45). CPU rises to 80% (C2D 3.00Ghz) when running boblight-x11.

i also tested it with a nvidia based graphic card which, indeed, produces far better results.

on an ion-machine it runs quite fine.
i need just one more hint:
how can i make it work "mono"?
i have attached two channels (left and right) but i would like to have just one colour (like the old version from lagwaggon on the xbox).

p.s.:
i have to add a "sleep 15" between the start of the daemon and the boblightx11 program.

Just set them to the same scanrange and they'll work identically.

Just to confirm bob, you were indeed correct about the problem being ATi's drivers.
I've switched from the HD3850 to a GF8400GS and it's now working a treat with 2.5% cpu on 720p Smile

Is there any chance of getting an implementation that isn't slow as hell on ati cards?

Yes, the chance is certainly there.

@bob

If you would like to use the ATi card for any dev/testing then you are more than welcome - at this moment in time i don't need to use it for anything..

is it possible to use different configs?
i would like to have a "selectable" config for "mono", "stereo" "4-channel".
actually, i wrote my 4 configs and have to rename and to restart the system.

i know, it's not a neccesary feature.
just thought of it...

Hello Friends.
I am Henry from Spain, I want to buy the atmolight kit to the carsten web, with 4 LED strips for each side of plasma.

But first I would like to know if I have to upgrade to the last SVN version on the XBMC in WINDOWS (I use SVN 22516) with DX support, or I have to overwrite or add some file in the directory that only you have give me. the problem it is that I'm not a developer and I can't develop this function, and don't like buy this expensive kit, and know that I can't use it because , I have to develop it.

Can any tellme If I need some file that you have , and if this atmolight run in WINDOWS VISTA?

thanks and sorry for my bad english.

No you don't have to upgrade to the latest SVN, as you are using Windows the way forward at the moment is to use a program like boblight (google).
This will give you atmolight for pretty much anything on screen and works fine with XBMC for Windows.
If your using Vista you have to disable Aero IIRC.

i haven't tested it, but the script to change the config between two sets could look like this:

Code:
killall boblight-X11
killall boblightd
cp /etc/conf/boblight2.conf /etc/boblight.conf
boblightd
boblight-X11

maybe some "sleep" between those lines should do the job.

Boblightd has a -c flag with which you can specify a different configfile to load, then you don't need to copy.

thx.

i found it on your page, but couldn't figure out how the -c flag works.
boblightd -c /etc/conf/boblight2.conf ?

by the way:
the c&p script works, but it would certainly be nicer to use a build in feature.
