As the subject suggests, when I press the key 'e' on my hardware or virtual keyboard, it sends the 'enter' command rather than the alphabet 'e'. So if I am on the on screen keyboard, I just can't send the letter e. It sends the search string instead.
In older versions of kodi this problem was solved by unchecking the remote sends keyboard presses option. This is apparently now not an option.
Can I edit keyboard.xml to force send e? Didn't find anything that shows how to do it.
I am using openelec - kodi (helix) , skin Ace workaround provided by muckk.

I cannot reproduce this issue, and the setting you speak of should have no impact on that kind of thing. Can you get us a
debug log (wiki) from when you try to use "e"?

Yoo Hoo! Anyone see anything amiss in debug, and a possible solution?

Since debugging was only turned on after Kodi had started up, I can't see what keymaps get loaded. However, I would be willing to bet that the issue is isolated to the modified "dual audio" version of OpenELEC that you are using.

Please pastebin Lircmap.xml and keyboard.xml. Something must be wrongly mapped in there.
Always read the

Do not PM or e-mail Team-Kodi members directly asking for support. Read/follow the

The keyboard keymap seems fine.
You should have a lircmap somewhere if you are using a version of OpenELEC.

Yes I use openelec. But I don't have a lircmap.xml file. I presume it should be in the userdata folder.

I have same issue, and In my case I am running iOS 8 on an iPad and Kodi on Ubuntu the app was XBMC Commander that I have used now for many years without issue until recently.
Cut a long story short its the same issue on search or rename files or any other need to press "e" on Commamder keyboard, and it registers as ENTER. I don't have any issues with the hardware keyboard, only the virtual on Commander.
So I tried KODI Remote and Sybu Kodi and the odd thing is I have no issue with either app using the virtual keyboard. So in my case it is XBMC Commander.
I uninstalled Commander but no luck. So for me in interim I'll use one of the other two apps for the virtual keyboard.
Not sure if you tried above but just in case it's a Commander issue.

Yes you are right. It is an issue with the commander. Even I tried hardware keyboards and a few other apps and realized this. Thanks anyway! I hate to part with commander, it was a beautiful app but seems unmaintained at the moment.
