Solved 15.0 beta2 crashes at startup after upgrade: Unable to initialize. Exiting
#1
Hi,
After upgrade from 15.0 beta1 to beta2, kodi crashes on startup with the error message: Unable to Initialize. Exiting

I've tried to uninstall kodi and removed userdata and other kodi related folders and then reinstall. Issue remains.

Bug or SBS? Smile

Win7 pro 64-bit

How do i upload a .dmp file?

I had the same issue with my laptop, but my desktop worked fine.

Both are using Windows 7 x64 so it must be something specific with certain hardware.
Using ATI Radeon HD3300 integrated motherboard video on the desktop.
Using AMD A8-4500M APU on the laptop.

Not a major issue for me since I use the desktop for video and was just playing around with the laptop.
I went back to 14.2 anyway because both of the betas have an annoying 1 second pause of the audio when starting a video or resuming a paused video.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my desktop with Intel graphics. Beta 1 worked just fine while Beta 2 crashes on start-up.

I'm also experiencing the same issue on my system running Windows 7 (64-bit).

CPU: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6870

Same error as for the others:

Code:
ERROR: Unhandled exception in CApplication::Initialize() : Access violation at 0x77ca9e33: Writing location 0x00000014
NOTICE: special://profile/ is mapped to: special://masterprofile/
ERROR: dllFreeLibrary - Invalid hModule specified

The DirectX 11 build doesn't solve the problem for me.

Tried the Dx11 on my laptop, still crashes. Didn't test it on the desktop.

This started happening to me a few days ago with Kodi 14.2, running Win 7 premium 32 bit, it works fine with my Win 8.0 laptop. I was using version 14.2, then uninstalled it and installed version 15.0 beta1, neither version would work. Edit- I just installed 15.0 beta2 with the same results.

sorry, the spoiler tags aren't working

Can you all try to reproduce an issue with this version?

That version works on my laptop without the error on startup. I can't get to the desktop right now, but that was working with the official beta.

That version works fine. I noticed an increase of 0.5 MB in size between the two executables KodiSetup-20150602-83c870b-master.exe and KodiSetup-20150603-c2d779b-master.exe. Could it be related to that?

I'm curious which antivirus or antimalware software are all of you using?
