If I'm not mistaken, there is no Hardware Deinterlacing for Live or Recorded TV on devices like the Nexus, FireTV's and the nVIDIA Shield. Its all done in Software, using the CPU.

Shield has decent deinterlacing right from the decoder

What do you call decent ?

BTW, "blurry bob" is confusing. I assume you mean "Blend" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinterlac...nterlacing)

Ah yes my mistake, I will start calling it Blurry Blend from now on.

So are the results as good as H/W deinterlacing you would get with Motion compensation out of nVIDIA Graphics cards or Motion Adaptive out of AMLogic S8XX SoC's ?

Heh... No idea. I don't use livetv, so never play interlaced content.
That's why I call it decent, vs. my tests with, e.g., FireTV.

That's probably about the same argument as with 23.976, HD audio et al. Most would probably be satisfied. Purist would probably find something

So does that imply that the problem with seeking Live and Recorded TV on the nexus player is to do with interlacing?

It plays the video perfectly and looks great, problem just happens when I try skip forward through some adverts....

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm still having issues with seeking live/recorded TV on the Nexus Player.
It works fine on the Nexus 5 Phone though so I'm confident my backend PVR is not the issue.

I've reset my Nexus Player back to factory defaults and re-installed a clean kodi but still no luck.

My next step is probably going to be saving up for a Nvidia Shield TV as my brother has one and I got him to bring it round and live TV works perfectly on it.
