I've opened a Kodi issue here: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/15757

Kodi's ALSA device enumeration code is a bit convoluted and hard to understand, hopefully one of the Kodi devs can take a look at it and fix it, then we don't need to workaround it in the kernel / config.txt.

It does look different - maybe I entered aplay -L too early in the update process due to the Rpi being in another room and me not bothering to watch the process.

my PVR IPTV Simple Client v3.5.7.2 doesn't start at boot:
ERROR: UpdateAddons: Failed to create add-on PVR IPTV Simple Client, status = 5

Pi3 with LibreElec 9.1 Milhouse #0316 - log: http://ix.io/1DKB

Tried: Waiting for network in LibreElec Settings= 30s
Starting manually the addon works.

Any help would be appreciated! ^^

Your log is full of literally hundreds of errors. Can you test with a "clean" .kodi folder? This would mean you do not have any third party add-ons or skins installed - test only with Estuary skin, and PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on.

Assuming a "clean" installation has the same problem, can you identify the first build with this issue?
