Btw., 3D MVC MKV is not working in 617 - tested by using the well-known kodi sample files.

Were the files named with standard kodi tags?
I think you can also play an untagged file and choose 3D in OSD (and it will remember that in future).

Looks like you are playing ac3 with passthough disabled and channels set to 5.1.
Can you try with channels set to 2.0, passthrough enabled (with ac3 and dts formats enabled), and ac3 transcoding enabled?
That should also support multichannel - do you get the channel mapping issue?
Thanks for the reply @popcornmix, sorry it took so long to reply.
I did have Audio Passthrough disabled (not on purpose, just because I never change from this from default - I don't know very much about the sound stuff 🤦🏼♂️)
But I didn't have 5.1 selected as you can see... 🤷🏼♂️
Settings/System > Audio
Audio output device | ALSA: vc4-hdmi (vc4hdmi), SAM SAMSUNG on HDMI |
Number of channels | 2.1 |
Output configuration | Optimized |
Volume control steps | 20 |
Maintain original volume on downmix | *enabled* |
Stereo upmix | *disabled* |
Resample quality | Medium |
Threshold for pitch correction | 2 |
Keep audio device alive | 1 Minute |
Send low volume noise | *enabled* |
I can't find the ac3 transcoding option though 🤷🏼♂️
I have now enabled the "Allow passthrough" option under Audio Passthrough - Enabled "Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver" and "DTS capable receiver". Everything else under the Audio Passthrough options is turned off.
Will try this setup until you reply, because I have possibly set it up incorrectly again...

Sound problems on Pi4 are really starting to annoy me.
Passtrough is broken since my first install on Pi4. Have to start movies 10 times or even more to get it working, because my av receiver simply sticks to Stereo and nothing happens beside crackling noise after skipping trough the movie.
#0626 now also broke PCM setup (5.0) Rears are switched with fronts.

You've set number of channels to 2.1 rather than 2.0, so transcoding is disabled.
The latest build has a fix for PCM audio getting mixed up so you may find your original settings work better now.
Thanks @popcornmix, will revert to my original settings... The reason I had 2.1 selected it because my soundbar/sub is 2.1...
Was the SAM SAMSUNG selection correct?

Personally I'd recommend 2.0, enable passthrough, and enable transcoding (which appears when set to 2.0).

Remember, we don't know what receiver you have or how it is connected. You can't expect developers to search through every post you have made. Whenever you report an issue, give all information that might be relevant.
