MCE Remote Keyboard.xml

Hi,

I have read this section of the wiki here:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows

However, it doesnt say how to map keys that are multiple... For example, i would like to have xbmc display "info" <ctrl+d> when i press the live TV button on my remote.

The reason for this is i dont have a tv card (or live tv) and would like to use these buttons for other things..

Id like to set thatkey storke <ctrl+r> to show "info" rather than try to take me to live tv (which i dont have)... I have downloaded the MCRRemote plugin and thought it would be similar to MPC-HC where you just tell the app that when you press button "x" do this... but it seems i was wrong...

On MPC-HC this was acheived very simply by pressing the keys required, within the "keys"section of the menu...

However i am not quite sure i understand the xml stuff and its a lot more complicated than i first thought... Can this be done?

Could anyone help me in the right direction so that i am able to map my standard remote keypresses (These below)

http://www.pcmediacenter.com.au/forum/to...-cut-keys/

and have xbmc behave as i want when it receives those commands.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,

I resolved this issue using the keymapper feature.. Its almost exactly like the way MPC-HC do it, works perfectly and is available at sourceforge :-)

Happy days!

You need to create a custom keymap to determone what actions the keys are mapped to. The easiest way to do this is to grab KeyMapEdit from http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/

Hi,

Ahh, thanks for the reply :-)

Yea, i just found that just after i posted :-) Works a treat ... Not all my keys are mapping though ... "Volume_UP" seems to controll my main PC volume, and no matter what i map it to XBMC wont recognise it... Meaning i can only control my pc master volume rather than the XBMC volume.. Other than that nagging little fault, i did manage to map all my other buttons yay :-)

Thanks for the heads up :-)

I think when i have completed my install and set everything up, im gonna write up a basic guide on how to do these things in the most simple of ways..

Kinda like "an idiots guide" if you know what i mean :-)

The volume buttons are probably sending APPCOMMAND messages. These are ignored by XBMC and passed on to Windows, where they control the system volume. You can check this with the ShowKey applet from the same web site as KeyMapEdit.
