Buffers Every Minute or So...
#1
Windows 7 Pro 64bit running XBMC v 10.1
4GB RAM
Core i3 Sandy Bridge
Gigbit network

When I play a high bit-rate file over my Windows network (mapped drive and/or smb) the video will buffer every minute or so, or more frequently if the action is high. File will play fine if I run it locally. When I am running tests it is a completely clean network. Nothing else running over it except the video stream and playback is barely touching my CPU/RAM usage.

Here is a log file from XBMC: http://pastebin.com/hbEQhVEv
And here is a the media info for the file: http://pastebin.com/GyMfzSxs

The problem isn't exclusive to this file, but I am using it for my tests until I can solve this issue.

Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

this on WiFi or cat5?
because if this is on WiFi, it cannot handle the rate an HD video needs to be streamed at.

It is wired Cat5.

Try turning off "Flow Control" in your NIC(s) and see if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately that didn't seem to make a difference.

Is it a realtek NIC on that board ? If so go to the realtek site and download the latest driver.

Thank you. Updating the driver seems to have solved the problem. Through I had the most recent version, but it was updated last week.

Kind of a side note: Is there a program out there that can tell you if there is an updated driver out there for any of your hardware devices? I do a good job of check the most common sites, but I always seem to miss one that ends up causing me a problem.

Thank you for your assistance.
