I'm currently running windows vista, I was going to completely wipe everything and install windows 7 however i've only finally gotten my XBMC recognizing all the movies correctly and pulling the desired box cover, fan art, ect. Are these saved locally? I have an external HDD, is there anything I can do to take the current settings / box covers with me so I don't have to go through it all again? Thanks!

Depends on if you are running in portable mode or not. In portable mode they are saved in the install directory /Userdata. In a normal install I believe it is stored in the XBMC folder in <userprofile>\AppData (can't remember if it is \local below that or something else, a quick Google search will tell you.

You can also export your library data from XBMC
System --> Video --> Export Video Library - You can choose a single file or multiple files, and if you want to export the art as well.
