it will be on your media folders !
separate export will copy all the pictures and info file to same folder for each file !
but you wont get the watched and unwatched flags !!!!

I know that this thread is getting old, but I am having the same issue on my atv2.

From what i understand, listing the directory '/var/logs/CrashReporter' tells me that a 'LowMemory-DATETIME.plist' file is generated when xbmc chrashes out of the export dialog.
This probably means that there is not enough memory to do the export.

I copied the userdata (videodb + sources.xml) over to a fresh install on a linux machine, and did an export of the library from there, and the resulting .xml file had a filesize of almost 50MB.

Could this be the explanation for the problem?

How can I see the amount of free RAM on the ATV2?

ssh to your atv2 and command
#free
will give you your memory details

Code:
Apple-TV:~ root# free
sh: free: command not found

Doesn't seem to do the trick here.

For me, the copy of db files to a fresh install on my laptop was a workaround, but I am still interested in how I can avoid the crash in the future.
My library is not going to shrink, and the ATV2 will not suddenly get more memory ;-)

I used this addon to back up my files to my NAS, and then copied them to the userdata folder of my fresh install:
