[AppleTV2] Seek length/advancedsettings.xml
#1
Greetings,

I'm trying to shorten the seek length when I press "left" on the AppleTV remote from 30 seconds to 5 seconds. I believe this is done via the <timeseekbackward> setting in the advancedsettings.xml file, but I haven't been able to get this to work.

According to the XBMC Wiki (http://bit.ly/ruZijM), the AppleTV2 userdata folder is located at /Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata, but the file structure of my ATV2 doesn't contain /Users. /usr and /User both exist, but neither contain a <your_user_name> folder (which, I assume, would be "root"?).

After poking around a little, I found that /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/ contained a "userdata" folder, containing a "PictureIcon" folder, and LCD.xml, ModeLines_template.xml, and RssFeeds.xml. I tried creating advancedsettings.xml here (text here: http://pastebin.com/7JEuqQq9), but it had no apparent effect when I restarted XBMC on my ATV - the backward seek length was still 30 seconds.

Any advice would be really appreciated. Apologies that I've addressed two issues here (seek length and location of userdata folder), but they seem related enough to justify it.

No, according to that the XBMC wiki that is where it is for the Apple TV 1 (silver). Apple TV 2 (black) does not run Mac OS X.

That is the page you want. Or even looking at the FAQs stickied in this very sub-forum.

Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood "Apple TV" as referring to both versions and went straight to the Mac OS page in the Wiki; I should have continued reading to the iOS page. Thanks.
