[Linux] Newbie needs help with CentOS installation
#1
Question
Hello all,

I tried to follow the CentOS installation manual http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...nux_CentOS

but I'm stuck at the Configure section:
When I type cd XBMC, I get this:
Quote:-bash: cd: XBMC/: No such file or directory

I searched for XBMC on the server, and nothing was found.

BTW, initially, I tried installing XBMC with yum, but got this:

Quote:[root@cet /]# yum install XBMC
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
...
...
Excluding Packages from CentOS-5 - Base
Finished
Excluding Packages from CentOS-5 - Updates
Finished
Setting up Install Process
No package XBMC available.
Nothing to do

I'm running CentOS version 5.6 on x86_64.

I would highly appreciate any help at this time Wink

Thank you in advance,

Thierry

This guide is totally outdated. XBMC does not use svn anymore, so the code you checked out is really old.
If you copy pasted the line below correctly, you should have an XBMC dir though.
Code:
svn co https://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xbmc/trunk/ XBMC

either way this code is old, search for xbmc git guides.
