Venomm Wrote:Build looks good. I would recommend throwing in a Blu-ray player instead of the DVDR so you have the flexibility of playing both DVDs and Blu-ray discs for a few bucks more only. -
Samsung SH B123L - http://www.ebuyer.com/242243-samsung-sh-...b123l-bsbp

I only have space for a slot loader and dont own any br discs so not worried about that.

I can add it later if I really need it

I don't keep up with Intel, but I think there's a problem with the onboard graphics. Someone else will jump in with specifics I'm sure.

This machine wont be used for gaming, purely media playback.

The only reason I would want a standalone GFX card is if there were 1080p mkv playback issues with the onboard gfx, or I would be missing functionality such as bitstreaming of audio

Again, I don't keep up with Intel, I haven't a clue as to the status of this, but I don't think it's been addressed (or if it can be).

Pretty much everything in my movie library would be impacted by this though.

I think with the 24fps issue, I will just suck it and see.

If it bothers me, I will add another gfx card later

All I can say is I'm running a i3 and the Blue Ray play is stunning. Not an issue here

Same here, I just replaced my e-350 with a Pentium G620 and I don't have any issues playing 1080p mkvs. I had the same thought as AmitUK1978 - I'll just give it a try and if I notice anything then I'll get a gfx card. I don't understand why more people don't come to this same conclusion instead of being scared away by people on this forum.

Note - you'll need to use a nightly build if you want to use dxva acceleration with Sandy Bridge graphics.
