Video screen shifts to the left
#1
Recently I got a new LCD TV. It is connected o my pc with a vga cable. I changed the ratio of the tv to the corresponding resolution.

Since I'm using this tv, I have a small problem. When watching a movie, the screen turns black after one second for just a short moment. After that the screen has shifted about 2 cm to the left.

I hope someone can help me with this.

(using xbmc 10.1)

Have you got the "Adjust refreash rate to match video" enabled in System settings, Video, Playback? If so the TV is probably responding to XBMC changing the display refresh rate. You should be able to use the controls on the TV to adjust the screen position and size while a video is playing, and the TV should remember the settings. Alternatively just disable the "Adjust refresh rate ..." setting.

VGA is about the wordt way you can connect a TV to your PC. Does your PC have a DVI connector? If so you can get a DVI to HDMI adaptor cable and connect the TV using that. DVI and HDMI are actually the same - it's only the connector that's different.
