Is it possible to have a way of adjusting the volume of the audio on the optical out within xbmc itself?
Thanks in advance,

since i requested this, I know there's a topic about it. And the answer is no unfortunately.
But you can boost it though, if you go to the menu by pressing the center circle button for a few seconds while playing something, there is this slider called Volume amplification. This does work, unfortunately it works only to "positively" amplify it. I never understood why this amplifying process couldnt be reversed to get below the "0" point.
So amplifying it is possible.... although not via volume but via volume amplification!

It isn't a boost I'm needing more of an attenuation ;-)
I'm sure adjusting the volume in the digital domain is a subject of debate as it reduces the bit rate etc. so I'm sure there is a reasoning behind it.

volume amplification will invoke an audio compressor, so I wouldn't use it as a volume control.
Digital volume control will come sometime after Eden when Audio Engine is done. No, there's no ETA on that.
