well, i'm not too sure if this has been attempted, or if it's even possible, but i was wondering if we'll ever see a python ftp client for xbmc. having the ability to be able to connect to ftp's from within xbmc just seems right. ;-) i have a similar disscussion open at:

xbmcscripts.com

i was seraching at sourceforge for any scripts that might be of use , this seems to be the best one so far, but who am i to make that call lol. well, i hope to get some thoughts about this script. i think it would be a great addition to xbmc in any case.

there's already a patch at sourceforge which adds ftp client support to xbmc. however it seems no official developer is interested in applying this patch to cvs so far.

hmm just for the interest, could you post the sourceforge link?

anyway a ftpclient would be easy to implant, because the phyton has a ftp lib.so it wouldn't be much programming lines to get it going.

i wish i could say that sounded easier for me to do, but man, i just cant get python, i skin well, but....



i also would like for you to post that link so i can try that setup out, at least for my own build. i hope if the ftp client setup is smoothe sailing, the devs will implement it into the build. but for now, i just want to see it in action ;-)

ya, i had to go and find it on the same day you suggested it, i couldn't just wait that extra day... lol

yeah, i ended up finding it after reading your post and i gave it a shot that night, too bad the update had to come out the next day

yes, i will be giving this another shot, thanks again for this link, hopefully if it proves uselful enough, they will implement it into the cvs.

no luck, again. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, this patch just doesn't seem to work for me.
