I hope someone can help me. I was so excited to find XBMC and the features it offers but now I'm stuck. I looked in other threads but I'm so new to this I'm not sure what to do. Here is the problem:
The only thing I've done from the start is gone into network settings and enabled sharing of nPnP to access my network drive. Then when I added that drive as a music source and chose scan library it starts to scan and after a few minutes it crashes and goes back to the apple tv 2 main screen. Based on earlier posts I edited all my music tags so that they are version 2.3. However, some files are WMA and FLAC which doesn't use ID3 Also,k some tags have lyrics in them.
Here are my system details:
Apple TV 2 Version 4.4.4 (330)
Operating System Darwin 11.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.0.0
XBMC 11.0-Beta1 Git:20111222-22ad8e4
Compiled 12/26
Iomega Home Media Network Drive
I enabled DNLA for all folders
When browsing for source I choose uPnP Devices>Home Media Drive>OK>ok
Then I hold menu on source and "Scan item to Library"
After about 5 minutes it crashes and goes back to ATV main menu
My library is about 80GB with a few HUGE folders if that matters.
As soon as I figure out how to use filezilla I will post my logs.
I was really looking forward to using XBMC and I'm so disappointed at this point.
